The history of the orchestra

The Instrumental Capella  was founded in 1978 by the wonderful musician, conductor Aleksander Afanasyev. From the very beginning he succeeded in rallying a circle of like-minded performers – graduates of the Moscow Conservatoire and Gnesins Musical Academy.

During it’s history the orchestra had creative relations with such famous artists as T.Grindenko, A.Liubimov, O.Hudiakov and  Rinat Ibragimov, the 1^st prize winner of the Bottezini International Music Competition in Parma (Italy), the soloist of the London symphony orchestra. He was the art director of The Instrumental Capella during the period 1995-1998.

Since the year 1998  Gennady Derkach has been the art director of the orchestra. G.Derkach is a talented musician, violinist, who dedicated more then 20 years of his life to The Moscow Instrumental Capella being the leader and the soloist of the orchestra. During his musical career he performed in the best concert halls of Russia, Europe and all over the world as a member of the most famous Russian chamber orchestras and ensembles. This wonderful musician joined The Instrumental Capella since the first years of it’s existence taking all the best from collaboration with the famous musicians. Now G.Derkach embodies his musical ideas as an art director of the orchestra trying to uncover in each of the tutti players the individual talent of a soloist.

There is a great number of concerts in Moscow and all over Russia and the international concert tours in the biography of The Instrumental Capella. Our orchestra won the Diploma of the International Music Festival of chamber orchestras in Plovdiv (Bulgaria), took part in The Easter Festival of Moscow Kremlin. Organization of benefit and educational concerts for children is an old tradition of The Instrumental Capella.
